Overview
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for clerk cadre posts in public sector banks across India. This examination is one of the most competitive bank exams in India, recruiting candidates for front-office customer interface and transactional roles.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Minimum Qualification: Graduation / Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory. Candidates should have a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language or have studied Computer/Information Technology as one of the subjects in High School/College.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in the official language of the State/UT for which they apply (ability to read, write, and speak).
Age Limit
- General: 20 to 28 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
- PwD: 10 years relaxation
Selection Process
The IBPS Clerk selection process consists of two online examinations:
1. Preliminary Examination (Objective)
- English Language: 30 Questions / 30 Marks / 20 mins
- Numerical Ability: 35 Questions / 35 Marks / 20 mins
- Reasoning Ability: 35 Questions / 35 Marks / 20 mins
- Total: 100 Questions / 100 Marks / 60 minutes
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect response applies.
2. Main Examination (Objective)
- General/ Financial Awareness: 50 Questions / 50 Marks / 35 mins
- General English: 40 Questions / 40 Marks / 35 mins
- Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: 50 Questions / 60 Marks / 45 mins
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions / 50 Marks / 45 mins
- Total: 190 Questions / 200 Marks / 160 minutes
- No Interview is conducted for the Clerical post; final selection is based strictly on Mains marks.

Quantitative Aptitude / Numerical Ability
Simplification/Approximation, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Data Interpretation (Tabular, Bar, Pie charts), Arithmetic Word Problems (Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Speed, Distance).
Reasoning Ability
Puzzles, Seating Arrangements (Circular, Linear), Syllogism, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Inequality, Alphanumeric Series, Direction Sense, Order and Ranking.
General English
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Sentence Improvement, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms).

No, there is no interview round for the IBPS Clerk exam. Final selection is done solely based on the marks secured in the Main Examination.
